6th Annual Mid-Appalachian Bonsai Kai Exhibit

Bonsai exhibit returning to ETSU museum
JOHNSON CITY – The Mid-Appalachian Bonsai Kai will once again host the Invitational Bonsai Exhibit at the East Tennessee State University and General Shale Brick Natural History Museum and Visitor Center at the Gray Fossil Site. The exhibit will be on display Saturday and Sunday, Sept. 11-12, from 8:30 a.m. – 5 p.m.

The Official Tennessee SuperGraphic Unveiling at the Gray Fossil Site

U-Haul is teaming up with the East Tennessee State University and General Shale Brick Natural History Museum and Gray Fossil Site to celebrate the official unveiling of the Tennessee SuperGraphic, showcasing an ancient red panda species previously unknown to science. Join us in honoring and commemorating the Gray Fossil Site, now home to the world’s most complete red panda fossil, during the site’s official three-year anniversary celebration.

A summer program for children ages 4-10 in conjunction with Mountain Messages V Children can:
- listen to stories about quilts
- make their own quilts from scraps of paper or cloth

Mountain Messages V: Everything Old is New Again

Exhibit Dates: July 13-September 16, 2010

"Everything Old is New Again" is the theme of this year's competition.
Works submitted will be judged by Melinda Bula, a nationally known fabric designer and quilter and
author of Cutting Garden Quilts.
Cash prizes will be awarded during the opening reception and gallery talk on July 29th.

Tusks! Patch Program

The TUSKS! Patch Program is a great way for your little scientist to learn about the animals and ecosystems during the Ice Age through fun-packed, fascinating activities that will inspire them to continue to learn more about the Earth's past at the Gray Fossil Site.

The program is $10 per child. At the end of the program, each child will be awarded with a TUSKS! patch and granted access to the TUSKS! Ice Age exhibit for no additional charge.

Program schedule:
Grades PreK-K: Sunday, August 8 from 1-3 p.m.
Grades 1-3: Saturday, August 21 from 1-3 p.m.
