“A Passport to the Arts in Kingsport” Arts Council Arts Crawl 2010

The Arts Council of Greater Kingsport (ACGK) will host the second biannual Arts Council Arts Crawl: A Passport to the Arts in Kingsport on April 29, 2010, 5PM-9PM. This unique collaboration unites artists, residents, and businesses for the purposes of increasing exposure for area artists, providing easy access to arts and entertainment for residents, and raising funds to be used to increase the awareness of the growing arts community in Kingsport.

Our first Arts Crawl was so popular we have decided to do it twice a year. The events will be on the last Thursdays of April and September.

15th Annual Fiddlers & Fiddleheads Festival

at Farmhouse Gallery & Gardens in Unicoi. The 4th weekend in April heralds the popular Fiddlers and Fiddleheads Festival at Johnny and Pat Lynch’s Farmhouse Gallery & Gardens. Now in its 15th year, this down-home music festival always provides a spectacular venue for a remarkable slate of bluegrass talent from all over East Tennessee and beyond, such as Adam Larkey & Mountain Time, The Ball Sisters, the Red Barn Band, the Pleasant Beach Church Quartet, Headed Home, Tanner Honeycutt, the Spinner Family, The Old Timers, Carson Peters and the Rock House String Band, and Pleasant Hill.

If You Were an Animal…: The Great Sphinx sculpture in Egypt has the head of a person with the body of a cat. Draw your head onto the body of an animal that you would like to be!

Inspiration Art: This month we will be inspired by music! Celebrate Black History month by listening to jazz and doing an art project in the style of Romare Bearden.

Chinese Lanterns: Ring in the Chinese New Year by designing a Chinese lantern. As we celebrate the year of the Tiger, learn some Chinese symbols to decorate your lantern.

Shakespeare and Friends Celtic Renaissance Faire

Located in Crockett Spring Park in Rogersville. Travel back to a time when Kings and Queens ruled the land. Visit the Kings stage for performances of Celtic Music, Fire Breathing, Belly Dancing, Puppetry and Comedy. Visit the marketplace for rare and beautiful objects brought from lands near and far. Listen to music, "sweet to the ear" and feast on foods common to the time. Watch our jousters challenge each other on the tournament field. Beware the pirates for they practice much mischief and mayhem. The wee ones will be amused by puppet shows and stories of Knights and Damsels.
