Treasure!
at Hands On! Regional Museum. This new exciting exhibit, organized by NRG! Exhibits of Washington State, has a dozen hands-on activities that allow the visitor to try tools of treasure hunting and investigate treasures. Visitors can drive an ROV (remotely operated vehicle) underwater, crack a safe, learn their weight in gold, and experiment with real metal detectors to find buried treasure.
Seven thematic areas are covered. Visitors are invited to go on a treasure hunt for underwater treasure and learn how people hunt for buried treasure. Learn about treasures in the attic, family heirlooms and long-lost toys that may hold hidden value. A new form of "treasure hunting," geocaching is also explored. Consider the various ways that people find their way using maps, compasses, landmarks, and GPS.
The museum offers daily programming and exhibits focused on the arts, sciences, and humanities for all ages. For more information please call (423) 434-HAND or visit www.handsonmuseum.org. Johnson City. AC.
